July 17, 2019

In this episode, the Retro Movie Geek crew are geeking out over Do The Right Thing (1989) and

  • neighborhood changes
  • the great cast
  • racial stereotypes
  • Cup of Joel’s
  • color vs. color
  • and much, much more!

Synopsis:

It’s the hottest day of summer on a Brooklyn street, and feelings are running high. As the day progresses, light hearted fun turns into frustration and rage as racial tensions build, and boil over under the sweltering heat of the sun.

The disquiet is centered round the local bar, Sal’s Famous Pizzeria, run for years by an Italian family. The local black population is unhappy that their neighborhood is being run by whites and foreigners. The temperature continues to rise as tempers begin to fray, and the crisis escalates beyond control.
