In a world… where flix were forgotten…
In a world… where heroes were valiant, be they bald or part Wookiee…
In a world… where social media was king…
One of the things I love most about Forgotten Flix (apart from ripping the piss out of Jason) is the sense of community that is spread so far and wide – it doesn’t matter what time of day it is, you’ll nearly always find someone online who wants to join you in some healthy movie debate.
But with so many of us in different parts of the world, it’s unlikely we’ll ever be able to physically sit in the same cinema to watch a movie together… which is a shame, even though we would run the risk of fisticuffs in the back row when the Assault on Precinct 13 argument rears its ugly head again, and I don’t trust Kevin and Jay not to start chucking popcorn at everyone.
However, in the world of social media, this is not an insurmountable problem: ladies and gentlemen I give you the inaugural Forgotten Flix Movie Tweet-a-long!
On February 19, we’re going to get as close as we can to seeing a Forgotten Flix together: at a time that’s as suitable for all timezones as possible, we’re going to grab a DVD, press ‘play’ at the same time, and tweet our commentary using a common hashtag.
But what movie to see? I mean, the choices are endless, and believe you me the debate was long. In the end though, Jason shouting the same title over and over combined with a bit of Lucas-era wisdom (‘Let the wookiee win’) meant that there was one clear choice….
This is a longtime favourite of many FF-ers (read Peter’s Retro Review here), but also has the advantage that Joel has never seen it, so we all get to be there as he pops his Flash Cherry!
This could get messy, kids.
Start time details and more closer to the date of the movie Tweet-a-Long, but put it in your diary now – Flash Gordon Forgotten Flix Movie Tweet-a-long: Be there or be square!!
