March 17, 2021

On this episode, the Retro Movie Geek crew is joined by the lovely Maggie, and they’re geeking out over The Silent Partner (1978) and

  • superb acting
  • office christmas parties
  • an intelligent script
  • the disturbing kill scene
  • and much, much more!

Synopsis:

To everyone who knows him, Miles Cullen (Elliott Gould) is a mild-mannered bank clerk who collects tropical fish… but not everyone knows him.

When Miles stumbles across a plan to rob the bank, he secretly decides to hide a large portion of that day’s takings in a briefcase, leaving the bank robber (Christopher Plummer) with a good deal less of the cash than the papers have reported missing.

Miles could retire young, a very wealthy man. The only problem is, the bank robber is also a killer – and he’s out to retire Miles permanently. How does a quiet young man who never started anything in his life, stand up against a psychotic killer who will stop at nothing not only to get his money back, but then to wreak a bloody revenge? Whether they like it or not, the two have become silent partners in a crime that will change both their lives – for better, for worse, and forever.
