Thumbs up for mentioning Kubo and the Two Strings. It is a fun movie that the whole family can enjoy and has a surprising amount of depth. It’s a rare family film that doesn’t dumb down its content for kids. If you want to get a taste of Laika’s (the studio) previous work, Boxtrolls is availabe on Netflix Streaming right now.

    • Thanks Gamma! And I loved The Boxtrolls too! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think they also did Paranorman. I haven’t seen it yet, but intend to watch with my kiddos this Halloween season.

Yes, Paranorman is one of theirs as well as Coraline. Paranorman is my favorite modern movie pick for Halloween. Your kids are going to love it.
