Zone Troopers (1985)
Synopsis (courtesy of Wikipedia): Zone Troopers is a 1985 science fiction film, directed by Danny Bilson and starring Tim Thomerson. The original music score was composed by Richard Band. In Italy during World War II, a patrol of American soldiers discover a spaceship that has crash-landed in the woods, and they come across its alien crew. A nearby Nazi unit also finds out about the alien craft, and sends a patrol to capture it and the Americans.

Multi genre. Big trouble in little china. Didn’t it say on the video cover something like ‘its a comedy, kung fu, horror, monster, ghost story’
“Weirdsville”. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite multi-genre film, but it’s definitely one of the more unique movies that I have seen. Imagine “Trainspotting”, “True Romance, any Elmore Leonard novel, and LARP put in a blender and set on high. Plus it contains the only good performances that Scott Speedman and Wes Bentley have put on film, period.
Let’s be fair – he was perfectly cast for AMERICAN BEAUTY
and by he, I meant Wes Bentley

I don’t know about favorite multi-genre movie, but Zone Troopers is !%@$#ing awesome! Looking forward to that podcast, and hopefully you guys don’t skewer it.
Obscure multi-genre movie? Hmm… Let’s see here. How about UNDEAD? A low-budget movie from Australia which was released in 2003. It’s an action comedy zombie horror sci-fi flick that I actually enjoyed watching.
Not obscure in any way but I really like From Dusk till Dawn (and that’s as much to do with the film itself as it is to do with George Clooney)

Only just listened to the podcast, if I’d seen this in time I would have said The Happiness Of The Katakuris which can be best described as a zombie thriller / musical.
And the brilliant Shaun Of The Dead was advertised as a romantic comedy with zombies. (The website at the time was romzom.com.)
Who’d have thought zombies were so one-dimensional?!
Isn’t there an Australian one about a cricket match that goes bananas?
