RMG 04: White Men Can’t Jump (1992)

January 27, 2016

In this episode, the Retro Movie Geek crew is geeking out over

  • retro-related obituaries news
  • how Darrell got the name “Sugar Runs”
  • whether your height means you have to play b-ball
  • the honesty of WMCJ and how it might make you feel
  • the realization the Wesley Snipes is a helluva good actor
  • and more!

Synopsis:

Billy Hoyle (played by Woody Harrelson) and Sidney Deane (played by Wesley Snipes) are two basketball players who hustle people for money on the streetball courts.

Billy needs money so he can pay off a debt to a couple of gangsters, who are after him and his girlfriend, Gloria (played by Rosie Perez), and Sidney needs it so he can move himself, and his wife and kid out of the shithole they’re currently living in!

Both of them are great basketball players on their own, and good at hustling, but when they team up… that’s when it heats up… both game- and ego-wise!
