RMG 05: Cobra (1986)

February 3, 2016

In this episode, the Retro Movie Geek crew is geeking out over

  • brutal movie cops and the citizenry they “protect”
  • action heroes of the 80s
  • whether Cobra is more horror movie than action movie
  • Cobra’s potential sociopathic tendencies
  • and more!

Synopsis:

Los Angeles is struck by a wave of violent and brutal murders, all of which seem to be committed by the same perpetrator, the Night Slasher! The L.A.P.D. is baffled and can’t seem to get a lead on either his identity or the motive for the murders!

Marion “Cobra” Cobretti (played by Sylvester Stallone) is called in to take care of the problem. He’s a member of the Zombie Squad, a division in the police department that specializes in dealing with this type of violent crime. He suspects that, instead of this being the acts of a lone serial killer, it’s actually a whole “army” of killers. No one believes him, of course! That is, not until they get a witness… and this is when things go from bad… to an outright war!
