2019 Spooky Flix Fest – Scanners (1981)

October 31, 2019

In this episode, the Retro Movie Geek crew is joined by Jason Grooms (find more from Jason here: “Looking For Spoons” & “Geek on the Peak TV“), and are geeking out over  Scanners (1981) and

  • scanner “lust faces”
  • David Cronenberg
  • weird psychic powers
  • exploding heads & veiny stuff
  • and much, much more!

Synopsis:

Scanners concerns a group of beings with supernatural extra-sensory skills – so strong that they can bend, twist, mutilate, and explode other human beings, using only the powers of their minds.

Revok is a scanner who wants to band together others like him to control the world. There is only one way to stop him – find someone with equally powerful brainwaves that can destroy Revok.

The performances are astounding – Stephen Lack as the wasted artist (?), and Jennifer O’Neill as a scanner whose gaze is as potent as it is inviting. With sensational special effects, Scanners is a mind-shattering experience… in more ways than one!
