Axel Foley, a streetwise Detroit cop, one night gets a visit from a childhood friend, Mikey, who basically just got out of prison… For the past 6 months he’s been working for an arts dealer in Beverly Hills, when he stumbles upon a bunch of German bearer bonds, and sees a way to make a fast buck or two. His employer, Victor Maitland, is of course keen on getting his “goods” back, so after a night out reminiscing and drinking, Axel is knocked out and Mikey is killed, by two goons. Axel, who has his suspicions as to why Mikey was killed, decides to go to Beverly Hills and look into the matter. But Beverly Hills is a lot different from Detroit, so Axel uses all of his wise-cracking street smarts to get a closer look at Victor Maitland’s little “side-business”, much to the chagrin of the local police force!
