RMG 290 – Blow Out (1981)

June 22, 2022

On this episode, the Retro Movie Geek crew is joined, once again, by Gamma and they’re geeking out over Blow Out (1981) and

  • bleakness, sleaze & grittiness
  • the cast & director
  • 20 minute sex scenes
  • a good scream
  • and much, much more!

While recording sound effects for film, Jack Terry accidentally records a blowout as he watches a speeding car plummet into a murky river. Jack dives in and saves a young woman, Sally, but the driver – a high-ranking political candidate – is dead. Jack is told to forget the whole incident.

Listening to his tape again, Jack hears the unmistakable sound of a gunshot. Together, he and Sally piece together clues that lead them into an intricate web of political assassination and brutal murder in which they could be the next victims.

Featuring a harrowing, Hitchcockian chase through the streets of Philadelphia, “Blow Out” will keep you riveted until its last chilling twist.
