RMG 318 – Savage Streets (1984)

July 12, 2023

On this episode, the Retro Movie Geek crew is joined by Brandon Windish (check out more from Brandon here or here), and they’re geeking out over Savage Streets (1984) and

  • it being a twisted version of Grease
  • THAT scene (and also that other scene)
  • sleaziness
  • unsatisfactory revenge
  • and much, much more!

Synopsis:

In the searing style of classic confrontation films such as Chained Heat and Class of 1984, Savage Streets stars Linda Blair as a tough high school coed turned vigilante against a brutal street gang of rapists and murderers.

Blair is Brenda, vivacious leader of the “Satins”, a fun-loving group of pretty high school girls. The Satins are in for trouble from the first moment they play a harmless trick on the “Scars” – a vicious gang who run loose on the Hollywood streets.

The Scars, and their malevolent leader Jake, take their revenge seriously – first with Brenda’s deaf-mute sister, then her soon-to-be-married best friend. Caught up in her rivalry with the cheerleaders, Brenda is at first unaware of the Scars’ involvement, but is soon shocked with the full truth.

Shock… hatred… and then a deadly vengeance in a skin-tight black suit, as Brenda searches out the gang members one by one.

Savage Streets – Where the only rule is “an eye for an eye.”

  1. Hey guys. Great show! I think this one is up there with the best.
Savage streets is something I’m tempted to watch again, but I might skip a few scenes this time. What a great conversation though!
Brandon was really fun and interesting as a guest and I immediately decided to do the Freddy’s nightmares challenge and watch along with their show.
    Two down, 42 to go.

What a funny show that is! They have interviews with dead directors like Wes Craven and Tobe Hooper. Renny Harlan frequently stops by to converse. Very interesting to get their take on things.

Thank you for retro movie geek. I look forward to every release and always have a great time with you guys.
