Six Degrees – Memorial Day

May 30, 2011

by Dave Umbricht

Today is Memorial Day in the US.  So let’s take a moment to reflect and remember all the brave people who have given their lives to protect us.

Take us from Adrien Brody (who starred in The Thin Red Line, a movie that tried to show the inner struggles of soldiers) to Richard Farnsworth (star of The Straight Story, which includes a powerfully authentic scene of war remembrance).

  1. Adrien Brody was in King Kong with Jack Black. Black was in Mars Attacks with Martin Short. Martin Short was in Pure Luck with Scott Wilson. Wilson was in Way of the Gun with James Caan, and Caan was in Misery with Richard Farnsworth.

    • Russell– Well done again! And you managed to mention King Kong and Jack Black without vomiting (I assume). Well done! 😉

      • Why thank you! And yes, I did manage to mention King Kong and Jack Black without throwing up, only because it was nothing compared to the horror of the more recent Gulliver’s… oh God… *starts to choke back vomit*… Travels. I can’t hold it! *BLARF!*

  2. Ooh I had one like that but went a diff route- Adrien Brody in King Kind with Jack Black, Jack Black in Anchorman with Will Ferrell, Will Ferrell in Elf with James Caan, James Caan in Misery with Rachard Farnsworth. I bet there’s a shorter one.

  3. Oh, wasn’t John travolta in Thin Red line? In which case Adrien Brody in TTRL with Travolta, who was in the marvellous Primary Colours with Kathy Bates, who was in Misery with RF.

  4. Richard Farnsworth was in Anne of Green Gables with Colleen Dewhurst, who was in The Boy Who Could Fly with Fred Savage, who was in The Princess Bride with Wallace Shawn, who was in She’s Out of Control with Matthew Perry, who was in The Whole Nine Yards with Bruce Willis, who was in Fifth Element with Milla Jovovich, who was in Dummy with Adrien Brody (I think that’s more than 6, but I thought it was still worthy considering I used The Boy Who Could Fly AND Wallace Shawn).
